March 6, 1940 – April 21, 2026

Black

Clyde O. Black II, 86, died in the care of his loving family on Tuesday after a severe stroke and complications related to Alzheimer’s.

Clyde was born in Roaring Spring, son of Clyde Sr. and Gladys, where he enjoyed a small town childhood on Water Street and graduated from Roaring Spring High School in 1958. He was a standout in a variety of sports, but most enjoyed basketball. He sang and played music while also working as a DJ at WRTA. He went on to graduate in 1962 from Gettysburg College with a degree in Philosophy before completing his JD degree from Dickinson Law School in 1965. He married Rita Missell, whom he met in college, and returned to practice law in Hollidaysburg as well as in Morrisons Cove.

Black joined the firm of Evey Black Attorneys LLC in 1965 and retired as a partner in 2010. From 1966-72, Black served as an assistant district attorney in Blair County. Once back at the firm, he specialized in personal, family law while also serving as solicitor for municipalities and school districts in the area.

After living on Garber Street, Black moved with Rita to the Cove and they spent twenty years on the Pine Hill property that Clyde Sr. had acquired when he helped to establish Iron Master’s Golf Course and Country Club. Managing the forest and cutting firewood joined tennis as his primary interests outside of work. He traveled widely and accepted leadership opportunities such as serving on the Gettysburg College Board of Trustees (Chair for six years), Penn State Altoona’s Advisory Board and steering boards for Blair Senior Services, Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries and others. He believed fiercely in the need to give back to the communities to which he was a member.

A long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church, Black was predeceased by Rita in 2016. He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Reinhardt and her husband, Joseph of Iowa City, Iowa; their children, Eliza and William; and his son, Brian and his wife, Christina, of Hollidaysburg; and their children, Benjamin and wife, Marta Millar and Samuel.

The family wishes to thank the staff and professionals at the Winds at Mattern Orchard, ALSM, UPMC and Mary Olivieri for gentle care and love over the years. Donations in Clyde’s honor can be directed to Blair Senior Services, 1320 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.

Family visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, May 2, 2026, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
