Charles E. “Chuck” Bossler Sr., 87, Altoona, peacefully passed away Thursday at Presbyterian Village with family by his side. Born in Altoona, he was a devoted son of the late Mary M. (Wertz) Bossler.
He was the widower of Darlene G. (Dinsel) Bossler, who passed away in 1976.
Chuck is survived by two daughters, Karen Stoehr (Ray) of Lancaster and Diana Walls (Brian) of Hollidaysburg; two sons, Charles Bossler Jr. and Jay Bossler (Michelle), both of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Connor Stoehr, Patrick Stoehr, Rian Bossler, Shelbie Bossler, Trevor Walls, Justin Bossler and Jordan Giordano; a great-grandchild, Paisley; a sister, Carol Drass; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Drass; and brothers, David and Anthony Bossler.
Chuck was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School.
For 52 years he lived at his home on Spruce Avenue, Altoona, where he raised his four children.
He retired from Veeder-Root Co. after 39 years of service.
After retirement, he was a regular at the Summit and Blair Senior Center, where he enjoyed having lunch and playing pool. He participated in the Blair Senior Games from 2003 to 2019 and was proud of the 242 medals he won.
Chuck was a life member of the Bavarian Club, a Blair County Blood Donor and attended First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg.
He enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football, bowling, playing pool, dancing and exercising. He especially loved his family and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the caring nurses and aides at Presbyterian Village and supportive staff from Bristol Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a memorial service honoring Chuck’s life will be held at 4 p.m. with Pastor Stewart McClelland officiating.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
