Wanda G. ‘Bubba’ Burgmeier

She married Karl M. Burgmeier on Oct. 14, 1941, at St. Patrick’s Church, Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death March 14, 2007.

Surviving are five children: son, Jeffrey K. Burgmeier; daughter, Carol A. Talley; son, Michael J. Burgmeier (Connie); daughter, Sandra J. Miloro (Richard); and son, David M. Burgmeier (Deborah), all of Altoona; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a friend, James Talley.

Wanda was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Patricia Burgmeier, on Sept. 12, 2011; a brother, William H. Helsel Jr. (Ruth); and a brother-in-law, Frank Kaye (Anna).

She was a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School.

Wanda was a member of the Happy Hatters and the Red Hat Gems. She was also a member of the Lakemont Lions Club and an active volunteer for numerous local organizations.

Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, March 6, 2026, at the funeral home.

Interment will be made at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Altoona.
