Russell Eugene Reese, 74, Tyrone, died Thursday at Homewood at Martinsburg in the presence of our Lord.

He was born in Philipsburg, son of the late Leroy “Buggs” and Jean (Corbin) Reese. On July 3, 1970, he married Diane E. (Gingery) Reese, who survives; along with a daughter, Jennifer Reese (Troy); a son, Russell S. Reese of Tyrone; grandchildren: Frank Parkes III (Chelsea), Katelynn Camerer (Kyle), Olivia Warrender (Curtis) and Victoria Walk (Ethan); great-grandchildren: Kendall Parkes, Nolan Parkes and Jeremiah Walk; brothers, Richard Reese (Libby) and Roy Lee; a brother-in-law, Elwood “Woody” Gingery; nephews, Bobby Reese Cissy) and Brian Reese (Chrissy); and nieces, Sherry Gingery (Scott) and Shelly Lemons (Steve). There are many family members and friends whom he cherished.

He was a 1969 graduate of Bald Eagle High School and retired from the training division of PennDOT, as well as the State College School District. Russell was a member of the Tyrone Alliance Church, where he taught Sunday school. He led two Bible Studies at the Cedarwood Preserve and at Graystone in Tyrone. He enjoyed these times of sharing his love of the Lord.

He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with family members, family times at Chincoteague, Va., and special time at Disney World with his children and grandchildren. He loved woodworking and spending special time in December with children of all ages here in Tyrone. He loved visits from his family and friends; they were special, sharing much laughter until the tears came. He also loved his dog Grace, who brought him much comfort.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Tyrone Alliance Church, with casket closed, the Rev. Carl A. Schmidt officiating. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Sinking Valley.
