Ronald E. Brumbaugh

He graduated from Central High School in 1964.

Ronald worked on the family farm while growing up as a child and continued working there after high school before entering the restaurant business. He and Nancy purchased the Dog n Suds restaurant in Roaring Spring, which later became Brumbaugh’s Drive-In. In 1980, they established the Creekside Inn in East Freedom, which was proudly operated until his retirement in 2020.

Ronald married his first wife, Nancy (McNelis), in 1966. Together they raised three children: Daren E. Brumbaugh (Jill), Gerald S. Brumbaugh (Lori) and Amy J. Ritchey (Cary). He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Ben Brumbaugh, Rachel Brumbaugh, Derek Nothstein, Erin Brumbaugh, Gerald Brumbaugh Jr., Taylor Ritchey, Luke Ritchey and Julia Ritchey. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Beau and Elias Brumbaugh.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Brumbaugh and Robert Brumbaugh; and a sister, Helen Johnson.

He is survived by his second wife, Rhea (Corle); and his sister, Donna Albright; along with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will remember him fondly. He also has many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was active in his community and organizations throughout his life. During high school, he was a member of the FFA and later participated in the Jaycees and the Masonic Lodge.

Ronald was an exceptional cook and prepared countless meals over the years in the restaurant business.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved morel mushroom hunting, hunting throughout Pennsylvania and big game hunting trips to Montana and Colorado. Ronald also enjoyed fishing and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

Ronald will be remembered for his dedication to his family and the life he built in the Blair County community.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
