Nellie M. Hummel, 96, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully on Friday at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg. Born in Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Bessie Brown.

On April 21, 1947, she married the love of her life, Roy L. “Babe” Hummel, in Claysburg. They shared 58 wonderful years together before he preceded her in death on June 25, 2005.

Nellie was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg, and was known for her kindness and faith. She retired after many years as a cook from the Capitol Hotel in Hollidaysburg.

She is survived by her two loving children, Dianna J. Bracciale (Frank) and Terry L. Hummel (Carol). She will be deeply missed by her two grandchildren, Ron Raugh (Cheryl) and Rod Raugh (Dawn), as well as her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Nellie was preceded in death by her grandson, Frankie Bracciale Jr.; two brothers, Sam Brown and Bill Brown; and two sisters, Goldie Harr and Elsie Knisley.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the dedicated nuns, nurses and staff on the Second Floor C-Unit at Garvey Manor for the excellent care provided to Nellie. Our thanks also go out to the Pinnacle Hospice team for their compassion and great care.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona; and from 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the funeral home. A private interment will follow at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 1523 Adams Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
