Daniels
Mary Ann Daniels, 78, was born in Altoona, the cherished daughter of Winnifred C. Schultz and Jonathon M. Schultz. She passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at Halifax Hospital, Daytona Beach, Fla.
Mary Ann was the beloved wife of Michael A. Daniels of Altoona, with whom she shared a life full of love, partnership and dedication. Together, they built not only a family, but also local businesses, including Pretzel’s Plus and Subway.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Nicole Daniels Sproul; her son-in-law, Craig Sproul; and her two adored granddaughters, Meagan Sproul, 20, and Brie Sproul, 14, who were truly the light of her life.
Mary Ann began her career working for the railroad and later at Henry Enterprises before choosing to devote herself fully to raising her daughter. She was an avid reader who found great joy and comfort in books throughout her life. In addition to caring for her family, she generously gave her time to the American Cancer Society, where she proudly contributed to the creation of the cookbook Palette Pleasers.
In 2017, Mary Ann moved to Ormond Beach, Fla., where she spent her later years surrounded by family, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her granddaughters. Being “Grams” was her greatest joy, and she embraced that role with endless love, warmth and pride. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, generosity and unwavering devotion to her family. She was truly the best Grams anyone could ask for, and her love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Mary Ann’s name to your local library or humane society, honoring her love of reading and her deep compassion for animals.
