Larry Lee Groseclose, 78, of Tyrone, passed away on Friday.
He was born in Alexandria, Va., son of the late Clarence John and Margaret Esther (Sherman) Groseclose. On May 7, 1967, he married Donna Kay Mountain in Everett. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2019.
Surviving are three children: Joel Wade (Bethany Jean) Groseclose, John Albert (Tisha Aysel) Groseclose and Elizabeth Kay (Ronald Calvin II) Detwiler; 13 grandchildren: Zoë, Erin, Joel II, Kaylee, Gabrielle, Marina, Daniel, Loralai, Brooke, MacKenzie, Amelia, Brielle and Zachary; and six great-grandchildren: Lucas, Elizabeth, Levi, Jameson, Casen and Logan.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded by two sisters, Jeannette Satterwhite and Judy Kimberling. He was the last of his immediate family.
Larry was a graduate of Saint Leo’s University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He served his country honorably and retired from the U.S. Army at Fort Meade, Md., and the CIA, where he was a polygraph examiner. He belonged to the American Polygraph Association and the Maryland Polygraph Association.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, as well as spending time with his family going to baseball games, most notably the Baltimore Orioles. He also loved following and discussing current events.
An 11 a.m. funeral service with military honors for Larry Lee Groseclose will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., with Pastor Luke Miller officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. as well as on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with honors will be made following the service at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. Contributions in Larry’s memory may be made to the National MS Society, P.O.
