Ferrell
Kelly (Cook) Ferrell, 48, of State College, formerly of Huntingdon, passed away Feb. 23, 2026, at Hershey Medical Center, following a courageous and determined battle after surgery. Despite her strength and resilience through complications, infections and an extended hospitalization, she ultimately succumbed to pneumonia. True to who she was, Kelly faced every challenge with an unmatched spirit, energy and passion for life — qualities that will forever define her legacy.
Born and raised in Huntingdon, Kelly was a proud 1996 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, where she excelled both academically and athletically. A dedicated student-athlete, she was a standout member of the varsity volleyball and basketball teams, earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike.
Kelly continued her academic and athletic career at Juniata College, graduating in 2000. Recruited by legendary Head Volleyball Coach Larry Bock, Kelly competed at the collegiate level and developed a lifelong love for the sport. Her passion for volleyball extended beyond her playing days, as she went on to become the first head coach of the Juniata Valley School District’s women’s volleyball program, helping to build and shape the foundation for future athletes.
Following her graduation, Kelly began her professional career in education, serving as a teacher within the Huntingdon Area School District at both the elementary and middle school levels. During her time in public education, she furthered her commitment to learning by earning a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership, reflecting her dedication to students and her profession.
Driven by a desire to help others in a different capacity, Kelly made the courageous decision to pursue a second career in healthcare. She attended Northeast College of Health Sciences, earning her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2010. Kelly began her chiropractic career in State College, where she quickly established a reputation for compassionate, patient-centered care. Her passion and entrepreneurial spirit led her to open her own practice in Huntingdon, followed by a second location in State College, allowing her to serve the communities she loved.
Kelly will be remembered most for her vibrant personality, her unmistakable laugh and her quick wit. She had a way of lighting up every room she entered, bringing joy, humor and warmth to those around her. Her energy was infectious, her kindness genuine and her love for family unwavering.
Kelly is survived by her loving husband, Donald Ferrell; and their two children, Donnie (age 10) and Lauren (age 8), of State
College. She is also survived by her mother, Carol Cook, of Huntingdon; her sisters, Kara Cook Ritchey and her husband, Robert Ritchey, of Huntingdon, and Kristen Cook Streightiff and her husband, Charles T. Streightiff, of Huntingdon; her parents-in-law, Josephine and Donald Ferrell, of State College; her brothers-in-law, Darrin Ferrell and Derik Ferrell; four nephews, and three nieces who adored their Aunt Kelly.

Kelly’s life was one of service, compassion and determination. Whether in the classroom, on the volleyball court, in her chiropractic practice or at home with her family, she gave of herself fully and selflessly. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched — as a teacher, coach, doctor, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Her strength, laughter and love will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Huntingdon Presbyterian Church, 508 Mifflin St., Huntingdon. Friends and family will be received beginning at noon, with the service to follow.
