Joyce M. Woomer, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday at Homewood at Martinsburg. She was the daughter of the late William Shaw and Thelma (Shaw) Shaw.
On Christmas Day in 1956, she married the love of her life, Robert E. Woomer, who preceded her in death on June 14, 1992.
Joyce is survived by her special loving partner of almost 30 years, James Lawson; as well as many beloved cousins.
A graduate of the Hollidaysburg High School, Class of 1951, Joyce later fulfilled her entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating her own beauty shop, Cuts and Curls, where she enjoyed serving her community and visiting with friends and clients.
Joyce had a love for travel and embraced opportunities to see the world. In her younger years, she was a devoted daughter who lovingly cared for her parents. While her husband was living, Joyce especially enjoyed dancing and hosting lively gatherings and parties for their many friends.
She also had a deep passion for gardening and took great pride in her flowers and plants. Joyce was often seen around town in her beloved “Red Sled,” a convertible sports car that perfectly matched her vibrant personality.
In accordance with Joyce’s wishes, there will be no public services.
Private burial will take place at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
