James E. Sheetz

He is survived by his siblings: G. Robert Sheetz, Nancy Boling, Marjorie Folcarelli, Charles Sheetz and Randall Sheetz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen G. Sheetz and Joseph M. Sheetz.

Jim was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School. Following graduation, he attended Penn State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1954. His love for his alma mater was constant throughout his life.

After completing his education, he returned to Altoona to work in and learn the family dairy business, Harshbarger’s Dairy. He served as Vice President of Harshbarger’s under his father until his father’s passing in 1968, when he became President of the company. Jim continued as President of the company until it was sold to Galliker’s Dairy of Johnstown in 1980.

He was a member of Park Hills Country Club for more than 60 years and loved spending time golfing and hanging out with his buddies there. Jim enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida for the winters, spending time playing cards with his friends and family gatherings. He was also an avid fan of Penn State football, Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers and never missed a Pirates game, whether it was at the stadium, on the radio or on television.

Friends and family will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, with Pastor Brian Detwiler officiating.

Burial will be held privately at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
