Gary R. Farber, 82, of Altoona, died Saturday afternoon at The Preserve at Cedarwood, Tyrone. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Robert and Evelyn (Marlett) Farber.

On June 27, 1987, he married Deborah R. (Williams) Campbell at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah; his children: Julie (David) Vitko of Altoona, Tracey (Brett) Cornelius of McConnellsburg, Derron (Kristie) Farber of Montoursville, Kristen (Christopher) Downs of Altoona and Scott (Penelope) Campbell in California; 13 grandchildren: Krysten, Daniella, Chad, Joshua, Calissa, Garrett, Madeline, Lydia, Shane, Rachel, Jack, Chloe and Eli; many beloved great-grandchildren; his

sisters, Dianne (Don) Carnell of Hollidaysburg and Karen (Rick) Holes of Altoona; a sister-in-law, Sonya Walter of Bellwood; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom were special to him.

Gary retired as a design engineer at F.L. Smithe Machine Co., Duncansville, after 42 years of dedicated service.

He proudly served in the U.S Marine Corps Reserves.

Gary loved his Lord and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg.

He enjoyed traveling, bicycling, reading, walking and talking with others. He also enjoyed playing and watching sports and was an avid Penn State and Cleveland Browns fan.

Gary’s greatest love and joy was his family.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, the staff at The Preserve Memory Care Unit and special caregiver, Tracy Coffman.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg, with Pastor Chad Mullinix officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Gary’s memory be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1401 Frankstown Road, P.O. Box 104, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
