Ellen Lynn Freeman, 61, of Bedford, died Feb. 24, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Bedford, a daughter of the late John F. and Marian J. (Isaac) Askey.
On Aug. 30, 2003, in Bedford, she married Christopher D. Freeman, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Meagan Fabian (Matthew) of East Liverpool, Ohio; a son, Ian Fetter (Whitney) of Bedford; two stepdaughters, Kerrigan Freeman of Edenton, N.C., and Drew Freeman of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters, Kayleigh and Emaleigh Fetter; a sister, Jill M. Askey of Minneapolis, Minn.; and a brother, Raymond C. Askey (Susan) of Altoona.
Ellen worked as a registered nurse for more than 35 years at Bedford Hospital.
She enjoyed camping, boating, gardening and other outdoor activities. She also enjoyed doing cross-stitch and other crafts. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and her dogs were very special to her.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Saturday, March 14, 2026, in the chapel of Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, Bedford, with Jim Miller officiating. A Nurses Honor Guard service will follow, performed by the Central Pennsylvania Nurses Honor Guard.
