DeWayne L. Spencer, 84, of Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday evening at Hilltop Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Altoona. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Elsworth Theodore “Ted” and Mary Alberta (Miller) Spencer.

He married Nancy J. Biddle on March 4, 1961, in Winchester, Va.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy; three children: daughter, Jane L. Ray; son, DeWayne L. Spencer (Theresa) both of Altoona; son, John N. Spencer (Susan) of Ocala, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Latisha Ray, Anthony Spencer, Megan Raichle (Jordan), Travis Spencer (Jess), Patrick Spencer, Cora Spencer and Molly Spencer; 11 great-grandchildren: Kayla Delozier, Bridget Delozier, Rayla Watters, Jace Spencer, Sophie Raichle, McKenna Spencer, Remington Spencer, Jonah Raichle, Carson Spencer, Dawson Spencer and Aura Winner.

DeWayne was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dale W. Ray; sister, Dora Mae “Dolly” Ellis; brother, Ronald Theodore “Ronnie” Spencer; and sister, Linda Lou Ross.

Mr. Spencer was a member of First Church of Christ Altoona, Juniata Gap.

He was a 1959 graduate of Altoona High School.

DeWayne was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam era.

He retired as a service technician from Hobart after more than 30 years’ service.

He enjoyed reading, photography and antique cars.

DeWayne was a member of the Blair County Antique Auto Club.

He served as a deacon and elder, and he was very active with the children and youth ministries at church.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2026, at First Church of Christ Altoona, 113 Good Shepherd Road, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Alan Brumbaugh officiating. Military funeral honors will be held at the church.

Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
