Desire R. Arthur, 69, of Altoona, died late Saturday afternoon, Feb. 28, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Viola D. Modico.
She married John A. Arthur Sr. on June 21, 1974, in Altoona. He preceded her in death Jan. 14, 2022.
Surviving are four children: son, John. A. Arthur Jr. (Barbara) of Altoona; daughter, Sherry Stahl (Jason) in North Carolina; son, Christopher S. Arthur (companion, Wendy); and son, Robert H. Arthur, all of Altoona; four grandchildren: Aleyah Arthur, Gianai Arthur, Kristen Stahl and Robert Arthur; cousins, Rosey and Patty; and caregivers: Joyce, Tosha and Marcia.
Desire was preceded in death by an infant son, Edward.
She had previously been a cook at the Phoenix Restaurant for more than 20 years and then retired from the Altoona Hospital dietary department.
Desire enjoyed baking, but she especially enjoyed family trips to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
