Catherine Marie Laich

On Nov. 18, 1949, she married Lynn Earl Laich in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2015.

She is survived by five children: Diana (Allen) Everhart, Lisa Smearman, Barbara (Rick) Cole-Cahill, Sandra (Brian) Musselman and Carol (Gary) Winters; grandchildren: Jeff, Janna, Mary, Dan, Lynn, Vicky, Amy, Ryan, Stephani, Amanda, Henry, Sarah, Emma, Leah, Mara, Mitch and Megan; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Rosemary Laich.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Dean Laich; a granddaughter, Delsha; sons-in-law: William R. Smearman and Henry S. Cole III; and siblings: Melvin, William, Henry, Gladys, Robert, Shirley and Donna.

Catherine was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, crocheting and most importantly, loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2026, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona.

Friends will also be received from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N. Sixth St., Altoona, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church; or to the Juniata United Methodist Church Angel Feet Ministry.
