Carol A. Weld, 84, of Altoona, died Thursday morning at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Alphonse and C. Agnes (Milton) Willnecker.
She married John F. Weld Jr. on July 6, 1959, in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death Oct. 21, 2004.
Surviving are daughter, Lori A. Bigelow (Alan); grandson, Michael A. Bigelow; granddaughter, Michelle R. Bigelow; and sister, Jacqueline K. Dodson, all of Altoona.
Carol was a 1959 graduate of Altoona High School.
She was employed in the dental offices of Dr. Kushner and Dr. Ehgartner for more than 25 years.
Carol enjoyed shopping, camping, cooking and trips to the casinos. She was a co-owner of Gilligan's Island Campground near Glendale Lake.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Pinnacle Hospice Care and Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for the exceptional care provided to Carol during her time with them.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service outside of Mass will be held at 7:30 p.m., with Monsignor Michael Becker officiating. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Carol please be made to Mending Hearts Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 97, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
