William E. ‘Bill’ Stauffer

William E. “Bill” Stauffer, 75, of Altoona, died Tuesday morning at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Hollidaysburg, a son of the late Uri H. and Kathryn E. (Opdenhoff) Stauffer.
He married Peggy J. Morgan on Jan. 21, 1989, at the Altoona Campus.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy; a brother, H. Russell Stauffer (Fran) in Connecticut; three sisters, Nina Wadworth and Ruth Lamca, both in Iowa, and Donna Laughlin (Bill) of Hollidaysburg; and numerous extended family members.
Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Wicker.
He was a 1968 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.
Bill retired as a sales representative from Unkel Joe’s Woodshed in January 2021 after 10 years’ service. He had previously been employed as the operations manager for Kmart, Altoona, with 41 years’ service.
He enjoyed following the North Carolina Tar Heels, Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football. He also enjoyed the beach, especially family trips to Aruba and Hawaii.
Bill loved his Schnauzer dogs, Zoey and Susie, who survive him; and Sky, Roxy, Shotzie and Star, who preceded him in death.
The family would like to thank the staff of Grane Hospice Care for the exceptional loving care provided to Bill during his illness.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
