Virginia M. (Ott) Smithmyer, 95, of Duncansville, passed away Sunday. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Anthony and Lena (Heiss) Ott.
She married Charles J. Smithmyer on June 10, 1950, in Newry. He preceded her in death in 2001 after sharing 51 years of marriage.
Surviving are her five children: Jacqueline A. Ralutz, Charles F. (Shelly), Michael P. (Kim), John E. (Michelle) and Kent E. (Teresa); 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Robert, Sheldon, Edward and Francine.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Gregory C.; and four brothers: William, George, Anthony and James.
Virginia graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1947. She worked for the Sears Credit Office and retired in 2000 from the Blair County Mental Health Department.
She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Duncansville.
Virginia enjoyed traveling, reading and going to NASCAR races, Pirates and Steelers games with children and friends.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Duncansville, where a funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Jeremy Mohler, Celebrant.
Private interment at Calvary Cemetery.
