Ronald Gene ‘Ron’ Huntsman

He married Genevieve Marie Mills on Oct. 26, 1974. She preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2018.

Surviving are a daughter, Tamara M. Boggs (Matthew); four grandchildren: Skhiler Smith (Cory), Joseph Smith (Destiny), Brayden Smith and Melanie Henry (Ian); four great-grandchildren: Azai, Sawyer, Rowan and Isla; a beloved sister, Renee Beach; a very special nephew, Chris, who was raised in the home like a son; a very special niece, Nicole; and his “bonus daughter” of 38 years, Jenny, who is the best friend of his daughter; and numerous extended family members.

Ron was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Liam.

He was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

Ron retired from Conrail in 1989 following many years’ service.

He was a die-hard sports fan and collector. Ron loved a lot of different sports. Baseball was always his first love. He could tell you any statistics. He loved the Pittsburgh Pirates and spent his summers at the Altoona Curve. Ron was also a little league coach for AIYBL from 1974-93.

Ron loved his family more than anything in the world. He always had a friendly smile and a kind word for everyone who knew him. To know Ron was to love him. He will forever be missed.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.
