For thy sweet love remembered, we announce the passing of Marguerite R. Albarano, 85, Altoona, on Saturday at Hilltop Healthcare and Rehab Center. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Eva (DiAntonio) Ruggery.

She married Raymond A. Albarano on Oct. 3, 1964. He preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2005.

Surviving are a son, Michael R. Albarano (Pamela) of Ardmore; a daughter, Chessa VanOrmer (Jim) of Altoona; seven grand-children: Luke, Morgan, Lilly, Claire and Grace Albarano, Zoey VanOrmer and Jim VanOrmer Jr.; two siblings, Regina Pagliara of Altoona and Victor Ruggery of State College; and many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers: Robert, Raymond, Joseph, Donald and J. Anthony Ruggery.

Marguerite was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School.

At the age of 60, she attended Pennsylvania State University, where she maintained a perfect 4.0 in her declared major, English. She was inducted into the academic Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and had one of her short stories selected and published in the Penn State Literary Magazine.

She retired from the Social Security Administration. She was the recipient of many outstanding achievement awards throughout her work history.

Marguerite enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, music and writing short stories.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Juniata Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N. Sixth St., Altoona, officiated by Pastor Elizabeth Hess. Interment will take place at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Cresson.
