Lois L. Sutton 84, Cresson, passed away Friday surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Ashville, daughter of the late Bernard J. and Margaret (McGee) Lidwell.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Thomas Sutton; children: Diane (Paul) Corle, Nadine Bernazzoli, Sharon (Carl) Smith, James (Alison) Sutton, Matt Sutton and Dana (Greg) Shaffer; a brother, Michael (Agnes) Lidwell; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as her good friend, Donna Stoy.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph "Dutch" Krise; brothers: John, Francis and Thomas Lidwell; and sisters: Rose Peterman, Dorothy Funicelli, Patricia Stock and Mary Lou Kline.
Lois was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir, along with the mainline Christian Chorus, as well as a member of the Cresson American Legion Auxiliary Unit 238. She retired as department manager at Kmart, Altoona.
An avid reader, she also loved to walk and at one time bowled in the retired women's league of Altoona. Above everything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 9, 2026, Gibbons-Houser Funeral Home Inc., 301 Church St., Gallitzin. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Cresson, the Rev. Leo Arnone, celebrant. Committal will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lois's memory may be made to the Cresson Public Library to celebrate her love of reading.
