Kathleen A. Schirf, 75, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ambrose L. and Irene E. (Chambers) O'Hara.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Patrick O'Hara.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, William; children: Patrick (Luz), Thomas (Brittany) and Christina (Ahmed); grandchildren: Sofi, Raymond and Grace; niece and nephew, Lori Marple and Michael O'Hara; and sister-in-law, Janet O'Hara.
Kathy was a 1968 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She had been employed as the head clerk at the Altoona Water Authority and an office worker at the Blair County Courthouse and Ward Trucking.
Kathy was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Church Ladies Guild, Juniata Elementary School PTO, Juniata Civic Association and Altoona Area High School and former Keith Junior High School band parent.
She loved all things arts and crafts -- especially ceramics, knitting, crocheting and counted cross stitch. Kathy also enjoyed Christmas shopping for her family and grandchildren. Most importantly, Kathy's greatest joy was her family, and her life was a testament to generous service within her community.
Friends and family will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Drive, Altoona, where a vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 900 N. Fourth St., Altoona, with the Rev. Nelson Javier TOR, celebrant. Committal at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
