Judith K. "Judy" (Steckman) Peck, 81, of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at Presbyterian Village in Hollidaysburg after an extended illness, with her devoted daughter, Heather, by her side. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Kenneth and Marjorie (Megahan) Steckman.
Judy married Lloyd B. Peck on Feb. 28, 1970, and they enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage together until his passing on March 17, 2025.
She was a 1962 graduate of Altoona High School. After high school, she studied for one year at Bob Jones University in South Carolina and went on to graduate with a degree in music education from Lancaster Bible College in 1966. Judy toured with the college choir during her time at LBC and always enjoyed the return trips to her alma mater.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Grimminger (Gary); and her beloved grandson, Brenden.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Altoona.
Judy had a servant's heart and was called to help others in everything that she did. She showed this through serving in the Children's Church ministry and organizing fellowship dinners and communion setup as a deaconess at Faith Baptist Church and Altoona Alliance Church. Most of all, she showed this by how she cared for her family. They were always her main focus and brought her such joy.
She enjoyed cooking, crafting, sewing and traveling, especially to Lancaster. Judy had a deep passion for music. Whether it was singing in the LBC choir, attending a southern gospel concert, listening to WJSM Christian radio, or having an in-home Gaithers concert, music was always in her life. She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for shelties or any stray needing a home. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Brenden.
Judy will be dearly missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Friends and family will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, with Pastor Gary Dull officiating.
Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park.
