Joyce A. Henninger

Joyce A. Henninger, 72, of Altoona, passed away peacefully early Friday morning Feb. 20, 2026, at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. She was born Oct. 17, 1953, in Altoona, a beloved daughter of the late Merle D. and Janet L. (Donley) Stitt.
Surviving are four children: son, Shawn C. Pennabaker (Carla) of Florida; son, Denny M. Pennabaker (Heather) of New Paris; daughter, Tonya M. Sheppard (Ron) of Cresson; and daughter, Megan E. Varner (Shawn) of Altoona; eight grandchildren, Katlynn, Kayla, Kyler, Emilee, Jillian, Carl, Carlee and Clairisa; three great-grandchildren: Garrett, Noel and Jaxson, and one expected soon; and two brothers, Gary Stitt (Peggy) and Scott Stitt (Erica), both of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Stitt.
Joyce was a 1972 graduate of Altoona Area High School.
She enjoyed sewing and crafting, but she most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was formerly employed at Tritex Sportswear and Weis Markets. Later, Joyce was employed at the former Autumn Estates as a personal care aide/cook.
Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose love for her family was the center of her life. She will be remembered for her strength, her kindness and the comfort she gave to those around her.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Joyce please be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
