Jeffrey Robert McKelvey, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 17, 2026, after an extended illness at Carolina East Medical Center in North Carolina. He was surrounded by family. Jeffrey was born in Altoona, a son of Veryl R. and Janet M. (Rodgers) McKelvey.
On Feb. 9, 1977, he married Susan Carreiro.
Surviving are his wife, Susan McKelvey in North Carolina; his daughter, Robin Hammel and her husband, Roger, in North Carolina; his son, Jeff McKelvey and wife, Laura, in California; a grandson, Declan Hammel, in North Carolina; and a sister, Sue Ann Hovenstine and husband, John, of Hollidaysburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Cynthia McKelvey; and a brother, Gary McKelvey.
Jeffrey served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lloyd Thomas. He retired from Small Tube Products Inc.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, listening to music, watching Steelers football and NASCAR racing.
A celebration of life was held with immediate family.
Jeff "Pap" will be remembered for his laid-back good nature, enjoying the simple things in life and allowing others to be themselves in his company.
