Genevieve ‘Ruth’ Tierney

She was born in Curtin, daughter of the late Samuel and Ruth (Hite) Gill.

On Aug. 29, 1955, she married Thomas J. Tierney, who preceded her in death May 3, 2014.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Badolato (Russell) of Dundalk, Md., and Diana M. Tierney-Burke (Andrew) of Rosedale, Md.

She was preceded in death by her son, Matthew; sister, Mary Mueller; brothers, George and Samuel; and her beloved companion, “Dirty Harry.”

Ruth was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.

She enjoyed gambling at the casinos, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins and taking drives in her Jeep Wrangler.

Friends will be received from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m., officiated by Deacon Charles Ahearn.

Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
