E. Anne Detwiler

March 6, 1931 – Feb. 19, 2026

E. Anne Detwiler, 94, of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday with her children by her side at Homewood Living, Martinsburg, after an extended illness. Anne was born Emily Anne Baker, in Connellsville, the daughter of Russell and Alma Baker. Upon her father’s untimely death, the family moved to New Enterprise to be near family.

Anne was a 1949 graduate of Replogle High School and a 1952 graduate of West Penn Nursing School. She worked as a registered nurse at Bedford Hospital, several local doctor’s offices and at Homewood.

Anne was married to Harold E. Detwiler on Nov. 21, 1953. He preceded her in death in January 2004. Together, they loved to travel, visiting many states in the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska, along with the Panama Canal, Russia and the Baltics.

As a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Anne served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the women’s fellowship, serving as secretary. Upon moving to Homewood in 2012, Anne attended services at the Homewood Chapel. She also enjoyed participating in the planned activities held at the home.

Even as Anne’s memory declined, she maintained her sense of humor and, most of all, kindness and appreciation to her family and staff at Homewood. ‘Grammy Anne’ loved visits from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; though her memory may have failed her, they always brought a smile to her face.

Surviving are three children: Dennis R. (Cathy) of New Enterprise, Nancy Cherry (Tim) of Duncansville and Edward (Elena) of Potomac, Md.; grandchildren: Alaina Detwiler Gates (Adam), Beth Detwiler, Connie Detwiler Ochoa (Aaron), Danielle Cherry Meadows (Jason), Katelyn Cherry Taylor (Matt), Nathan Detwiler, Bailey Detwiler Ritchey (Ryan), Cassie Detwiler and Nicholas Detwiler; great-grandchildren: Mallory, Darcy and Atlas Gates, Malachi, Ivy and Solomon Ochoa, Emma and Madalynn Meadows, Adley and Trace Taylor, James, Henry and Mathias Ritchey and Anastasia Detwiler. Also surviving is a sister, Linda Lloyd (Bob) of Indiana, Pa.; and niece and nephew, Dana Pugh and Jeremy Lloyd and families.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband; and sister, Marjorie Baker.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Homewood who lovingly cared for Anne.

Friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. memorial service Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at Homewood Living Martinsburg, Bice Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry McCuller officiating. Private interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Fink & Stone Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Martinsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made in Anne’s name to Homewood Living Martinsburg, Benevolent Fund or Special Activities, 437 Givler Drive, Martinsburg, PA 16662.
