Bonnie Jean (Despot) Middleton, 73, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, after a courageous 21-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late John and Helen (Umbower) Despot.
On June 8, 2001, at the Calvin House in Hollidaysburg, she was united in marriage to Dennis George Middleton, who survives.
Bonnie was a Class of 1970 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. She was a member of the North Anderson Baptist Church in Anderson, S.C.
Bonnie retired after 26 years of employment with J.C. Penney Co. in Home Interior.
She enjoyed reading, riding bikes on Rails to Trails, her cat Diggers and spending time with her family and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her sister, Helen “Pinky” Hein.
Surviving are her husband, Dennis G. Middleton; son, Jason Bottenfield (wife, Grace) of Pittsfield, Maine; stepdaughter, Michelle Miller (husband, Ronald) of Bald Eagle; grandchildren: Maxwell, Christian and Ian; sister, Linda K. Despot; brother-in-law, Gordon A. Hein; niece, Heather Moyer; nephews, Robert Hein and Collin Spotts; aunt, Cheryl Umbower; as well as numerous cousins.
A memorial service for Bonnie’s immediate family and close friends will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, in the chapel at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, with the Rev. Ralph Hamer officiating. Inurnment will be at Royer Cemetery.
If so desired, memorial contributions in Bonnie’s name may be made to The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg Benevolent Fund.
