Zana W. Ferry, 98, Martinsburg, died Thursday at Homewood Living Martinsburg. She was born in Elmira, N.Y., a daughter of Walter E. and Ruth M. (Russell) Walker.
She married E. Wayne "Jake" Ferry on June 24, 1949, in Russellville, Huntingdon County.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda L. Long of Ephrata, Pa., and Dr. Lori J. Bechtel-Wherry (Timothy Wherry) of Martinsburg; daughter-in-law, Faith Ferry (Edwin Taylor) of Tampa, Fla.; 11 grandchildren: Dr. Jenelle Ferry (Dr. Mark Yockey), Jordan Ferry (Katelyn), Colton Ferry, Jennifer Musser (Jamie), Stephanie Williams (Shaun), Sarah Long-Perez (Yamile), Andrea Mozzocchi (Chris), Adam Bechtel (Julie), Zachary Bechtel (Katherine), William Wherry and Sarah Wherry (Chris Wolff); 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, "Jake," in 2010; a son, Jeffrey W. Ferry in 1992; son-in-law, Dr. Harold R. Long in 2008; and a sister, Juanita F. Mokricki in 2017.
Zana graduated from Saxton High School at the age of 15 and from secretarial school two years later. She worked as a secretary in Huntingdon for five years, and was later employed as an office assistant for several years at IGA in Martinsburg. She retired as an administrative secretary from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Hollidaysburg, after decades of service.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Martinsburg.
Zana's favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, traveling and music.
Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, in the Bice Memorial Chapel at Homewood Living Martinsburg, with Pastor Jerry McCuller officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Zana's name may be made to the Homewood Living Martinsburg Benevolent Fund.
