Susan T. (McNelis) Mock, 79, of Lakemont, passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late William H. and Violet E. (Elliott) McNelis.
She married Jerrold "Jerry" Mock in 1986.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years; four daughters: Karen Baum (Brian), Linda Santore (Robert), Sandy Lightner and Christine Reed (Marvin); a son, Kevin Houck; four stepdaughters: Wanda Weyant, Barbara Hillard, Dawn Heller (Ron) and Sherry Elling (Chris); a stepson, Paul Mock (Brittany); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Brumbaugh and Sally Hancock; two brothers, Hugh (Cindi) and Henry (Sandy) McNelis; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Houck, in 2000; a stepson, Richard Hillard, in 2025; and siblings: Mary Theresa Barnes, John J. McNelis and Margaret McNelis.
Susan graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1963, the Altoona Vo-Tech LPN program in 1986 and the Mount Aloysius RN program in 1993.
She retired from Van Zandt VA Medical Center in 2011 after 35 years in nursing.
Susan was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Lakemont.
Due to the death of her daughter, Theresa, Susan raised her granddaughter, Ashley Smith, as her own daughter.
She enjoyed playing bunco with her friends, going to the casino, shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and going out to dinner with her sisters every week.
Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil service will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at St. John Evangelist Church, with Monsignor Michael Becker, Celebrant.
Interment will be at New St. Mary Cemetery.
