Stephen J. "Jine" Magulick, 92, Northern Cambria, passed away Monday. He was born in Spangler, the son of Steve and Helen (Gormish) Magulick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Lou "Min" Magulick; brother, Daniel Magulick; and son-in-law, Paul Valeria.
Surviving are his loving wife of 69 years, Dolores J. (Deoskey) Magulick of Northern Cambria; daughters: Yvonne (James) Rocco, Deborah Valeria and Stephanie (Edward) Sedlock, all of Northern Cambria; grandchildren: Christina (Shane) Teders, Joseph (Stephanie) Rocco, Ariel (Marty) Gudewicz, Anthony Rocco (Paige), Jacqueline (Jarod)
Paronish, Robert (Katie) Valeria, Jessica Valeria, Jennifer (Stephen) Watt, Brittany (Joshua) Bracken, Kelley (Michael) Cerchione, Allison Sedlock and Matthew Sedlock; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Thomas (Geraldine) Magulick of Marlton, N.J.
Steve retired from Northern Cambria School District as a health physical education teacher.
He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Northern Cambria; and a proud member of the PSEA and NEA, a former Commander of the Spangler VFW, and a dedicated member of the Pennsylvania Elks (BPOE), where he served as Exalted Ruler. As commander of the Spangler VFW, his leadership played a vital role in restoring financial stability to the organization. This allowed it to continue its mission of service to the community, including providing thousands of dollars in scholarships to benefit local students.
Steve attended Spangler High School, where he quarterbacked the Bobcats to their only undefeated season in 1950. He enrolled at Lock Haven State College, but left after his freshman year for a three-year enlistment in the U.S. Marines, spending 18 months in Korea. Steve returned to Lock Haven in 1956 where, once again as a quarterback, he led the 1957 Bald Eagles to the PSAC Championship and the only undefeated season in school history.
After graduating, he began a long and distinguished coaching career. Steve moved to Tyrone High School as head football coach in 1966 and led the Eagles to a 46-42-2 record over nine seasons, including an 8-1-1 season in 1970. Returning to his hometown to coach the Northern Cambria Colts in 1975, Steve led the team to multiple stellar seasons, including 9-1 (1978), 10-0 (1979) and 8-2 (1982), collecting multiple conference championships along the way. He retired as and remains the winningest coach in Northern Cambria football history, with 98 wins over 18 years. He later returned to coaching as an assistant under Frank Paronish and helped the Colts to the District 6 finals in 2003. Steve earned the admiration of countless high school athletes by his commitment and dedication to his school and his players. He was inducted into the Northern Cambria Community Hall of Fame in 2015.
After his coaching career ended, Steve continued to find his greatest joy in spending time with family and supporting his grandchildren at their many athletic events. Each one held a special place in his heart.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Northern Cambria, with Father Jeremiah Lange PhD OSB as celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
