Shirley A. Beckwith

On Oct. 2, 1951, in Cumberland, Md., she married George L. Beckwith who preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1988.

She is survived by two children, Georgiana (Joseph) Hartsel and Frederick (Lori) Beckwith; five siblings: Raymond (Cookie), Patricia, Herbert, David and Charles (Bonnie) Houser; four grandchildren: Alexandria Hughes,

Jennifer Hartsel and Tyler and Trey Beckwith; and three great-grandchildren: Lex, Ari and Baylee.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Fisher; and seven siblings: James, Richard, Glenn Jr., Constance Lahr, William, Howard and baby John.

Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She retired from the Tyrone Area School District as a teacher’s aide.

As a member, she was very involved with Grace Baptist Church and Bald Eagle Mission Society.

Shirley enjoyed flowers just like her mother, specifically irises. She enjoyed working in her flower garden as well as watching the birds.

Friends will be received from 5 until the 7 p.m. funeral service Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, with Pastor Tim Young officiating. Private interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
