Walters
Robert D. Walters, 79, of Hollidaysburg, gained his heavenly home on Saturday. He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Elvin and Margaret (Burket) Walters.
On Feb. 14, 1998, he married his wife of 27 years, L. Susan Olivo. They enjoyed hiking in the Quehanna Wilderness and their many trips to Williamsburg, Va. He was an amazing caregiver to her throughout her illness.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Dale A, Walters (Tina) of Roaring Spring; daughters: Angela D. Ritchey (Michael) of Curryville, Pamela A. Douglas (Dusty) of Everett and Amy M. McGarvey (Adam) of Curryville; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Caro Chappell of Red Lion; and a brother, Larry Walters of Claysburg.
Bob was a 1964 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel High School and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
He was a member of Claysburg Bible Church. His main ministry was putting music together for the Sunday morning and evening messages, as well as music for the Homewood ministry. He was always the last to leave church because he was always talking to someone and sharing the wisdom he gained throughout his life.
Bob was employed as a route salesman at Agway from 1972-97. He then owned and operated Cove Farm Supply and Burget’s Hardware until his retirement.
Bob played Cove Men’s fastpitch softball for many years. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors, gardening, cruise-ins and car shows and visiting residents at Homewood and his many friends.
Friends will be received from 2 until the 6 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, at Claysburg Bible Church, 11751 William Penn Road, Imler, with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to his church.
Arrangements are by Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
