Rita Marie Hoefler

Rita Marie Hoefler, 64, of Flovilla, Ga., the wife of Robert A. Martinez Jr., died Thursday at Wellstar Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin, Ga. Born in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late Gerald Joseph Hoefler and Margaret Marie Piper Hoefler.
Rita earned an associate degree in accounting from South Hills Business School in State College. She worked for many years as a merchandiser until her health declined.
She enjoyed the goat farm that she and her husband built and tended for more than 20 years, and loved all animals, especially her donkey, Jill. She loved to make jewelry, shop at the thrift store and go out to eat.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by a sister, Cecelia LaHive.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years; her child, Krista Nicole Martinez of Jackson; sister, Stephanie Scheeler and husband, Max; brothers, Jeffrey Hoefler and wife, Sandy, and William Hoefler, all of Altoona: and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be conducted at a later date.
