Richard L. ‘Rick’ Hoover

Richard L. “Rick” Hoover, 73, of Tyrone, passed away peacefully on Friday. He was born in Altoona on July 9, 1952, a son of the late Richard E. and Phylis (Kooken) Hoover.
On March 23, 1974, in Tyrone, he married Jennifer (Noel) Hoover, who survives. Also surviving are his son, Jason (Tara) Hoover; and brother, Greg (Beth) Hoover. He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Hoover, on June 15, 2020.
Rick was a 1970 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He served and was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in 1974. He retired from Norfolk Southern, formerly Conrail, as an electrician and was with the railroad for more than 30 years. He was also a member of Deepwell Hunting Camp.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his “Poochie,” Bella.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., as well as from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at the funeral home, with pastor Ben Hoover officiating.
