Marlene Jane (Sanner) Stranford, 87, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning at Kadima Rehab & Nursing at Greenville. She was born in Oil City, Pa., a daughter of the late John Elmer and Olive Bell (Harkless) Sanner.
Surviving are four daughters: Deborah A. Mitchell (Daniel) of Franklin, Jayne S. Stranford-Bennett of Ligonier, Barbara Jean Johnson (Clifford) of Altoona and Margaret "Peg" Jackson of Altoona; 15 grandchildren: John, Lindsay, Abbey, Aimee, Logan, Brian, Scott, Malinda, Michael, Megan, Daniel, Adam, Nicholas, Matthew and Jamey; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Sanner (Sue) of Oil City; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Marlene was preceded in death by a son, James Alan Stranford on Oct. 14, 2001; five siblings: John Sanner, Dorothy McCandless, Howard "Bud" Sanner, Ray Sanner and Betty George; a daughter-in-law, Jamie (Ruddock) Stranford; and two sons-in-law, Richard "Rick" Bennett and Harry Jackson Jr.
She was a 1957 graduate of Cranberry High School.
Marlene retired as an Associate Broker/Realtor following more than 30 years' service.
She enjoyed puzzles and playing bingo, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a proud grandmother to several grandchildren currently serving in the military.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 6 p.m.
A graveside committal will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, at Rockland Cemetery, Rockland, Pa.
