Lt. Col. Palmer Brown, USMC Ret.

June 24, 1937 – Dec. 14, 2025

Lt. Col. Palmer Brown, USMC Ret., 88, of Duncansville, passed away Dec. 14, 2025, at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Duncansville, son of the late Palmer and Mabel Brown.

He married Carolyn Moffet, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Palmer was a 1955 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps, embarking on a distinguished 35-year career. Rising from the rank of Private to Lieutenant Colonel, he retired in 1990.

During his years in the Marine Corps, he became an ordained Southern Baptist minister and was instrumental in starting and building churches in Pearl City, Hawaii, and the Pumpkin Hill section of Laurel, Md.

Following his military service, Palmer served his local community as a Blair Township Supervisor and was Project Manager for the development of the Lower Trail for Rails-to-Trails. He was also an advisor to the Cross Team Ministries in Williamsburg, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tabitha Brown; and two sisters, Joanne Pope and Badge Rodriquez.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; a daughter, Tammy L. Brown; a son, Palmer D. Brown; a sister, Joyce Yingling; and a brother, Daniel Brown. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Palmer will be interred at Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, Va.
