Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Schmittle

Kathleen "Kathy" Schmittle, 69, Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday morning at her residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Thomas R. and Matilda A. (Weidmann) Taylor.

Kathy was twice married: first to Robert Glunt and then to Robert R. Schmittle; both of whom preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Bradford, of Harrisburg; a brother, Tom Taylor (Elaine), of Altoona; and four sisters: Jean Schandelmeier of Altoona, Debbie Schroth (Dave) of Altoona, Janet Degenhardt of Lancaster and Patricia Haselbarth (Fred) of Kathleen, Ga.

Kathy was a 1974 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School.

She retired as the Troop Administrative Manager for the Pennsylvania State Police.

Kathy was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.

She enjoyed word puzzles, dolls and rocking in her rocking chair.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, with Father Alan Thomas officiating.

Committal will be at Alto-Reste Park.

Arrangements are by Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg.
