Jeffrey L. Appleman, 75, of State College, formerly of Williamsburg and Hollidaysburg, passed away at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Donovan H. and Annabelle (Isenberg) Appleman.
Jeff was a Class of 1968 graduate of Williamsburg High School. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science in Education from Penn State University.
He was a teacher of history and economics for both Williamsburg Community School District and Hollidaysburg Area School District. He also coached the ladies’ basketball teams at Williamsburg, Hollidaysburg, and Claysburg High Schools. Over his coaching career, Jeff accumulated 549 wins, ranking third in Blair County for total wins in women’s basketball. In 1997, he led Williamsburg to a PIAA 1A state championship with an undefeated record of 32-0.
Jeff was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing, running, biking, spending time with his three grandchildren and beach vacations with his family.
Jeff was a loyal fan of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, Pittsburgh Steelers football and all Penn State Nittany Lions sports.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Lois (Lang) Appleman; son, Michael J. Appleman (Natalie Ashmore); daughter, Kelley Myers (Brian); grandchildren: Evelyn, Kathryn and Mason; brother, Don K. Appleman (Debbie); sister, Linda Kagerise (Bob); and dog, Newman.
At the request of the deceased, a celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date. Please check the funeral home website for information as it becomes available.
