James Bryan ‘Jamey’ Miller

James Bryan "Jamey" Miller, 86, of Mount Wolf, Pa., passed away Jan. 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at WellSpan York Hospital. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Arthur and Charlotte (Wood) Miller.

Jamey married Geebie (Nohaile) Miller. The couple celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Oct. 31, 2025.

Jamey received his BS in mathematics from Lock Haven University and his MEd in mathematics from Indiana University of PA. He acquired an additional 50 graduate credits from Penn State University, Millersville University, James Madison University and Saint Francis College.

During his tenure as a public educator, he taught high school mathematics and computer science at the Altoona Area School District and later in Warwick School District. He was also employed as an adjunct professor in mathematics and computer science for Penn State University at their Altoona campus, Capital campus and York campus, as well as HAAC and Widner University.

He was the former owner of Abraham's Bar and Grill in Altoona, known for their chili dogs.

Jamey played football during his time at Lock Haven University and later coached football at Altoona Area High School.

He was a member of the Red Lion Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 649 and a member of Kappa Delta Rho fraternity at Lock Haven University.

Jamey appreciated music, particularly Pink Floyd and The Doors, was a bourbon enthusiast, enjoyed smoking cigars and loved college football.

In addition to his wife, Jamey is also survived by three sons: Michael J. Miller of Lititz, James A. Miller and his wife, Dora, of Mount Wolf, and Matthew B. Miller of Davie, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kelsey Loose and her husband, Eric, and Jenica Ferruzzi and her husband, Fran; a great-grandson, Elliott Loose; and a brother, Jeff Miller and his wife, Linda, of Sandpoint, Idaho.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at Etzweiler Funerals and Cremation Inc., 1111 E. Market St., York; and from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at St. John Chrysostom Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2397 N. Sherman St., York, with Father Peter Pier officiating. Burial will be in St. John Chrysostom Cemetery following the service.
