Gary L. Wisor, 70, of Altoona, passed away early on Jan. 2, 2026, at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness and while courageously and steadfastly battling cancer over the last three years. He was born in Johnstown to the late Edward A. Jr. and Charlotte (Trevorrow) Wisor.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Ann (Crain) Wisor; daughters: Erin (Wisor) Barley and husband, James Barley, and Emily (Wisor) Cook and husband, Brian Cook; grandchildren: Sarah Barley, Benjamin Barley, Daniel Barley, Abraham Cook, Jude Cook and Eve Cook; siblings: Linda Stahl (James), Alice Miller (Neil) and Kevin Wisor; and his many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and older brothers, Bruce and Alan Wisor.
He graduated from Westmont Hilltop High School in Johnstown in 1973 and from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1978.
He worked as a civil engineer at the EADS Group, then Stiffler McGraw and Associates, retiring in 2020 after spending more than 40 years in the field. He enjoyed the challenge and precision of his work, his coworkers, and mentoring new engineers.
Gary was a devoted and loving husband to Ann and father to Erin and Emily and he was a beloved and proud Pap Pap to his grandchildren. Over the years, he faithfully served in the local church at First Church and First Baptist Church, as well as Precious Life, and led small group Bible studies. He enjoyed woodworking and being with his family. He was a devout man of faith and firm believer in Jesus Christ.
Friends and family will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 1209 17th St., Altoona.
Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
