E. Jane LaHive

E. Jane LaHive, 93, of Rydal, Ga., died late Jan. 2, 2026. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late James W. and Ora M. (Keith) Curry.
She married Francis W. LaHive on May 6, 1978, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Wayne J. Alloy, with whom she shared two daughters, Toni M. Crawford (husband, Joel) of Rydal, Ga., and Michele Miller (husband, Mark) of Hollidaysburg.
Also surviving are five grandchildren: Michael Helm, Heather Wagoner (husband, Ryan), Rachal Helm, Mathew Miller (fiancée, Tierney Fernandes) and Melissa Isenberg (husband, Justin); seven great-grandchildren: Ashley Beverly, Abigail Gay, Miles and Myla Isenberg, Van Wagoner, Kaitlyn Huffstetler, and JJ Lee; and two great-great-grandchildren, Victoria Rose and Elijah Jay Beverly.
Jane was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Jack Mercer, formerly of Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Mrs. LaHive was a member of Jaggard United Methodist Church, Altoona.
She was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and received her Registered Nurse diploma in 1953 from Germantown Dispensary and Hospital, Philadelphia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University in 1976. She was a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.
Mrs. LaHive retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, being responsible for nursing home accreditation. She was employed at the former Hollidaysburg State Hospital from 1962-79, then as a Nursing Supervisor at the former Somerset State Hospital from 1979-84, then Inspection of Care from 1984-96 from where she retired.
Jane enjoyed puzzles (both book and table) and traveling, but she especially enjoyed being with her family.
She was a member of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association and Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Service details are incomplete at present, therefore memorial details will appear in a future edition of the Altoona Mirror.
