Carol H. ‘Myrt’ McGee

Feb. 15, 1930 – Jan. 2, 2026

McGee

Carol H. "Myrt" McGee, 95, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Friday at her residence. She was born in Roaring Spring, a daughter of the late Charles and Edith (Delozier) Herron.

On July 16, 1948, in Winchester, Va., she married Dean McGee, who preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2007.

She is survived by four children: Jeff, Kim, Steve and Dina; and four grandchildren: Kelly and her spouse Brandon Perrote, Sean, Connor and Zoe.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael D. McGee; and three brothers: Donald, Robert and Fred (Pauline).

The McGees moved to Bedford from RoaringSpring in 1970. Myrt worked as a meat wrapper and cashier at the A&P grocery store through the 1970s until their closure, always saying that she met everyone in Bedford through this job. She then worked at Giant Eagle until the early 1990s.

Many people remembered Myrt as a fierce Bedford Bison football fan, where she rang her cowbell for 24 years. Myrt was a generous, funny and independent mother and grandmother. She loved her back porch and the piece of ground beside it. Her kitchen table always had people sitting around it, and they were always fed. The best way to honor Myrt is to have a good meal, sit on your porch or take a swim with your favorite people.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford; and from noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, in the chapel of the funeral home, with Stan Howes officiating. Burial will be private at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Those wishing to make a donation in Myrt's name may do so to the Bedford County Pink Ribbon Fund, 127 S. Juliana St., Bedford, PA 15522.
