Carol Ann Hollen

2026. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Clifton and Alverta (Burkholder) Hollen.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved brothers: Darl, Gary and Larry Hollen; and former husband, Daniel Castelgrant II.

Carol is survived by her son, Daniel Castelgrant III; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth of Bridgewater, N.J.; sisters-in-law, Donna Hollen of Slippery Rock, Honey Hollen of Burnt Hills, N.Y., Celestia Hollen of Charlottesville, Va.; and nieces and nephews.

Carol grew up in Bellwood and graduated from Bellwood-Antis High School. She spent her first two years of college at Penn State University, Altoona, and then two years at Penn State University, State College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in music education.

After graduation she took a position as a high school music teacher in Clifton, N.J. and then a position as an elementary music teacher in the Ramsey, N.J. school system working in many of the Ramsey schools until her retirement. During her teaching career, she also completed her master’s degree in music education.

She was a longtime active member of West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, N.J., singing for years in the adult choir and assisting in many other music programs at the church until her move to Northfield, Minn.

A memorial celebration will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 S. Monroe St., Ridgewood, NJ 07450. The service will be livestreamed at westside.org/watch/worship-livestream.

Burial will be private in her hometown of Bellwood.
