Wayne A. Kirkpatrick, 93, of Altoona, passed away Thursday evening at his residence. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Augustine E. and Grace K. (Bickel) Kirkpatrick.
Wayne married Bonna Powell on Feb. 26, 1963.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; a son, Matthew W. Kirkpatrick (Susan) of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two daughters, Elena Kirkpatrick Mills (Kenneth) of Baltimore, Md., and Alysa Kirkpatrick Goddard of Adams, Mass; nine grandchildren: Katrina, Cassondra, Morgaine, William, Jackson, Carolina, Lizzie, Nellie and Matilda; four great-grandchildren: Brady, Parker, Luciano and Giovanni; his sister, Maryann Engelman (Robert) of Altoona; and best friend, Dee.
Wayne was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Vittorio.
He was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and received his master's in education from Penn State University and a master's in financial management from George Washington University.
Wayne served as a Lieutenant Commander for the United States Navy and retired after 23 years of service in 1977.
He later worked for the Altoona Area School District as a tax administrator.
Wayne was the president of the City of Altoona Tree Commission and had been a model train enthusiast.
A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
