Steven B. Fickes, 80, of King, passed away Monday at home. He was born in Timmins Hospital, Bedford, son of the late Samuel R. and Catherine (Raybould) Fickes.
Steven married his high school sweetheart, Iris (Smith), on Oct. 29, 1966.
Surviving are his wife, Iris; two daughters, Denise (John) Becker and Deann (Greg) Reilly, both of King; grandchildren: Zachary and Allison Becker and Elizabeth Fickes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Thomas and Frances (Aldine) Smith; daughter, Doreen Fickes; and granddaughter, Emily Becker.
Steven was a 1964 graduate of Greenfield-Kimmel and a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Army from 1965-67. Steven received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal while serving in the Dominican Republic.
He was employed at Champion Home Builders in Claysburg for 43 years, retiring in October 2007.
Steven enjoyed farming his entire life and raising beef cattle. He had an avid love for horses. Steven enjoyed a simple life, and his family was his greatest blessing.
Private services will be held at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Private interment will be held at St. Mark’s Cemetery, King.
