Samuel E. Miller

Samuel E. Miller, 95, of Duncansville, passed away peacefully on Thursday at his home. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Horace and Effie (Young) Miller.
Sam married Beverly Helsel on Dec. 17, 1999.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Beverly (Helsel) Miller; a daughter, Valarie Hrubochak; two sons, Scott Miller and Samuel Miller Jr. (Debbie); two stepsons, Daryl Giselman and Denny Giselman (Kimberly); a sister, Harriet Kinsel; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a nephew, Jody Kinsel; two nieces; and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.
Sam was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He retired as a machinist from Penn Jacobson Co. in Altoona and had previously worked for Stanley Electric.
He was most dedicated to the Altoona High School football program, where he served as equipment manager for 40 years, retiring at age 88.
A man of faith, Sam was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Bavarian Aid Society. He loved sports and was inducted into the semi-pro baseball hall of fame in 2021. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially spending time with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc.,
108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. with Pastor Ron Anderson officiating. Private interment will be at Alto-Reste Park.
