Knorr
Patricia L. Knorr, 78, Altoona, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at UPMC Altoona with her family by her side. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Myrle and Frances (Henchey) Rabenstein.
On Sept. 24, 1966, she married Alfred D. Knorr in Altoona. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2019.
She is survived by her five children: Dana Giger (Cory), Kami Bilek (Pat), David Knorr, Michael Knorr (Sarah) and April Knorr; grandchildren: Christian and Gabriel Graham, Caleb and Jonas Knorr, Chase and Callie Giger and Kailey and Camden Bilek; a sister, Nancy Hoover (William); nieces: Megan Hoover, Caitlyn Woodring (Scott) and Vicki Diamond; nephew, Ian Hoover; as well as many other nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and friends who were like family to her.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Alfred M. and Leah (Slusser) Knorr; along with her many sisters and brothers-in-law.
Patty was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School. She dedicated her career to serving her community. She worked as a church secretary for Otterbein and Mardorf United Methodist Churches, enjoyed working at the jewelry counters at Hills Department Store and later Sears and retired after 13 years in the Court Administrators Office at the Blair County Courthouse in 2017.
While raising her children, she was active in the PTA, serving as the president of the Juniata Elementary School’s Parent Teacher Organization, as a room mother and chaperone. She was a Brownie Troop Leader in her home. Later, she taught junior church and served on numerous committees at her church, first at Otterbein, then at Juniata United Methodist Church, volunteering with the Angel Feet Ministry children’s shoe program.
Patty found joy in many activities, including reading, cooking and experimenting with new recipes. She treasured moments spent visiting with family and friends, enjoyed camping, shopping and loved traveling, especially to visit her family out of state or go on her annual Florida trip.
Her most notable accomplishment was that she was “mom” to dozens of people all over the country, some of whom had only met her for a moment, but all of whom were left with a deep and impactful sense of who she was. She helped raise an entire generation of kids with love, kindness, compassion and popsicles and will be sorely missed.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona.
Family and friends will also be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, at Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N. Fourth St., Altoona, with Pastor Denise Haskins officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
