Joan L. Long, 84, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Hollidaysburg, a daughter of the late Orville and Mary M. Berkheimer.
On Feb. 7, 1959, in Cumberland, Md., she married Charles D. Long, who passed away May 19, 1994.
She is survived by a son, Charles D. Long Jr. (Julie) of Belsano, Pa.; a daughter, Sandra Grove of Altoona, and her longtime boyfriend, Albert Mealing of Altoona; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughters, Diane Miller and Brenda Brooks; and a granddaughter, Michelle.
Joan was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was a big fan of Elvis, the Pittsburgh Pirates, Gunsmoke and Wagon Train. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, with Pastor Mary Emery officiating. Interment will be at Holsinger Cemetery, Baker’s Summit.
